1 PART-TIME TEACHER/TUTOR

 

Kanaweyimik Child and Family Services, Inc. is looking for a part-time teacher who is enthusiastic about children’s education and guided by values of compassion,respect and honesty.

Statistics show that children in the child welfare system experience lower levels of academic achievement with less than 50 percent of youth graduating high school. Here at Kanaweyimik we are hoping to change this outcome for our children,youth and young adults.

This position is unique and requires the successful candidate to work with elementary and high school aged children as well as young adults wanting to obtain their high school diploma (or equivalent). This position requires consistent communication with the student and teachers regarding gaps in education and deadlines for assignments and tests. The teacher will be working with students on areas that need improvement (targeting math and English),helping them complete assignments and prepare for tests.

The suitable candidate must:

-         have Bachelor of Education and teaching experience

-         have a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license

-         A clear criminal records check and vulnerable sectors check must be presented at interview

 

Responsibilities:

-         travel to schools (on and off reserve) and children’s homes

-         communicate with students’ teachers, and child’s caregiver

-         help students with math and literacy skills

-         help students with their assignments

-         help students prepare for tests

-         keep track of due dates for assignments and tests

-         arrange for additional testing for any learning disabilities

 

Compensation

-         To be determined according to provincial teacher salary grid
