Community Based Intake Worker (3)

Duties:

·         To manage all intakes for child and family support services under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Community Based Programs and/or the Executive Director.

·         To provide contact services for children in care on behalf of the Family Services as may be required from time to time.

·         Responsible to receive and screen all intakes for Kanaweyimik Child and Family Services and other  community programs/services.

·         Responsible for making contacts with children in care as may be required from time to time on behalf of the Kanaweyimik Family Service Worker.

·         Responsible for completing intake screening and risk assessments for all intakes and reports of child abuse/neglect.

·         Responsible for completing all risk assessments as may be required to determine safety for children.

·         Responsible to provide back up emergency services when required.

·         Responsible to ensure all intakes related to child safety are forwarded to child protection supervisor for review and follow up.

·         Responsible for following up on all directions on case management as may be required.

·         Act as a liaison between services/programs at the community level to attempt to capitalize on the impact of all program areas in the family.  (Case planning, referral to appropriate community resources).

·         Responsible for completion of all administrative functions related to the case load including completion of intake form.

·         Responsible for completion of case load statistical reports on a monthly basis and submitting to the Supervisor of Community Based Programs and/or Executive Director.

·        Other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor of Community Based Programs or Executive Director from time to time.

Qualifications:

·         Must have a degree from a recognized School of Social Work and/or equivalent training and work experience in the field of child protection and family support services.

·         Must have a minimum of five years experience and proven ability to work in the social services area, mainly child protection services with families and children.

·         Demonstrated knowledge of skills required for families at risk of child abuse/neglect.

·         Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of native family systems; family violence; and child welfare services.

·         Demonstrated knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act.

·         Demonstrated knowledge of the Family Systems theory and case management practices.

·         Knowledge of skills required for youth at risk of suicide.

·         Ability to communicate orally and in writing with all levels of employees as well as the general public.

·         Computer skills are a position requirement.

·         Excellent verbal, written and time management skills are required.

·         A clear criminal records check and vulnerable sectors check must be presented at interview.

·         Must have a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license.
